Tracy Dixon Is the Marketing Lead You Never Knew You Needed

While most freelance consultants hand you a strategy document and wave goodbye, Tracy Dixon of The Marketing Depot does something rather different. She stays.

The Map-Maker

There is a particular kind of dread familiar to any founder who has let their marketing slide. The Instagram grid that hasn't been touched in months. The email list quietly gathering dust. The nagging awareness that something needs to happen, just not today. It's always not today.

Tracy Dixon has built a business around that feeling. Not to shame anyone for having it, but to make it stop.

'Marketing keeps slipping down the to-do list' is one of the most common things she hears from new clients. It's honest, and she respects that. What she does next is step in and take ownership, properly, at a senior level, handling everything from the strategy down to the day-to-day delivery so that founders can get back to running their businesses rather than feeling guilty about the ones they're not running.

The Marketing Depot, which Tracy founded in 2023, works with growing businesses, founders and in-house teams who need experienced marketing support without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire. It is a practical arrangement, and it works because Tracy is, by her own description, a do-er.

'I'm definitely not the consultant who hands over a strategy document and disappears. I like getting stuck in and making things happen.'

That instinct runs through everything she does. On a monthly retainer basis, she becomes a consistent part of a client's business, building and owning the marketing strategy, managing activity across channels, planning and delivering content and campaigns, supporting launches, and working alongside existing teams or external suppliers. You are not managing a freelancer. You have someone leading your marketing.

Her background spans more than a decade in sales and marketing, moving through roles as a sales executive, marketing executive and ultimately marketing consultant. Along the way she has worked across technology, fintech, pensions, travel, manufacturing, SaaS, jewellery, coaching and engineering, among others. The breadth is intentional. She has always been drawn to the challenge of getting under the skin of an unfamiliar industry, learning how it thinks, what it needs, and then building something that actually fits.

Alongside ongoing management work, The Marketing Depot handles substantial one-off projects: rebrands, website builds, SEO, marketing audits, strategy development and campaign launches. Current work includes leading a full company rebrand and launch, covering new brand identity, website rebuild, marketing materials, photography direction and rollout across every touchpoint. It is the kind of project that requires someone to own it from first thinking through to the moment it goes live, and that is exactly the role Tracy occupies.

Her services cover branding, website projects, SEO, content creation, LinkedIn marketing, email marketing and campaign management. The point, always, is to give each client what their business actually needs rather than applying the same formula to everyone.

This is where the philosophy of The Marketing Depot becomes clearest. Tracy has no interest in vanity metrics or cookie-cutter approaches. Organic growth, genuine audience-building, measurable results. Strategy that makes sense for the specific business and the specific people behind it. No jargon, no unnecessary complexity, no ideas thrown at walls.

She describes marketing as a journey, which sounds simple until you realise how few businesses have anything resembling a map. That is what she provides: clarity, direction and the momentum to keep things moving.

When she is not working with clients, Tracy can usually be found walking her dogs through the New Forest, which is, she admits, precisely when some of her better ideas tend to arrive.

For any growing business where marketing feels messy, reactive or perpetually postponed, The Marketing Depot is well worth a conversation. Find Tracy at themarketingdepot.co.uk or connect with her on LinkedIn.

Your Marketing Deserves Better Than the Bottom of a To-Do List

Tracy Dixon is the marketing lead your growing business never knew it could afford.

Most founders know their marketing needs attention. Few have the time, or the right person, to do anything about it. Tracy Dixon founded The Marketing Depot to fix exactly that. With over a decade across sales and marketing, she steps into businesses as a senior marketing lead: building strategy, managing campaigns, handling SEO, content, LinkedIn, branding and websites. Not a consultant who files a report and vanishes. Someone who actually gets things done. One retainer, one capable person, real momentum.

The Interview

5 Questions with Tracy Dixon

The Marketing Depot founder Tracy Dixon on ditching cookie-cutter tactics, the businesses she loves to rescue and why the best marketing ideas arrive halfway through a dog walk.

1. What kind of business finds its way to your door?

Usually a growing company that absolutely knows marketing matters but has reached the point where doing it themselves is no longer working. Things are reactive, nothing's joined up, and it keeps slipping to the bottom of the list. That's exactly where I come in.

2. You work across everything from SEO to full rebrands. Is there a thread that connects all of it?

The thread is always the same: figuring out what the business actually needs rather than applying the same formula to everyone. I've worked across sectors as different as fintech, engineering, travel and jewellery, and the starting point is always getting properly under the skin of the business first. The tactics follow from that, not the other way around.

3. What's the biggest mistake you see founders make with their marketing?

Chasing hacks and quick fixes because someone online told them that's what they should be doing. There's so much noise around what you're supposed to be doing, and very little conversation about what actually makes sense for your specific business, your audience and where you're trying to get to.

4. You describe yourself as a 'do-er'. What does that mean in practice for a client?

It means I'm not the consultant who hands over a strategy document and disappears. I build the plan and then I get stuck into making it happen, whether that's managing day-to-day marketing activity, running a rebrand from the initial thinking right through to launch, or taking ownership of SEO and content. Clients get both the thinking and the doing.

5. Where do your best ideas actually come from?

Honestly? Halfway through a dog walk in the New Forest, when I'm supposed to be switching off completely. There's something about stepping away from the screen that lets things click into place. I always have my phone nearby, just in case.
